Simians’ debut album “Crises of Willpower” is an immersive project more than 15 years in the making. Inspired by the infamous "marshmallow test" of the '70s—a landmark experiment on the challenges of self-control—this concept album explores the notion that maybe all of society’s modern problems are really just crises of willpower. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee and produced by three-time Grammy-nominated drummer/producer Ken Coomer (an original founding member of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo), this 13-track odyssey traverses timeless themes such as love lost and found, disillusionment, the motivational struggles of a nihilist, the perils of miscommunication, disappearing friends, political revulsion, getting trapped under a fallen tree and wondering if you should amputate your leg, nostalgia, regret, lifecycles, death, and most of all: hope. Singles like “The Logger and the Snow Angel," "Golden Saturn," "Crossing the Chesapeake," "Islands," and "Message for an Answering Machine" unfold a rich musical tapestry, offering a glimpse into Simians' introspective world. “Crises of Willpower" released on May 17, 2024. Pick up the first edition double LP vinyl on the Simians merch page.
Gable
(Indie-Folk)
In the realm of melody, a luminary presence emerges—an enchantress whose voice, akin to whispered secrets, captivates the soul. With hues of melancholy and moments of ethereal clarity, she crafts sonic landscapes that stir the heart. A lyricist of profound depth, she also pays homage to the great musicians, weaving their legacies into her own tapestry of sound. Through her originals and covers, she breathes new life into timeless classics, honoring the past while embracing the present and the new.
