Calista Harms
Calista Harms is back to take us down memory lane. Her set is a historical vignette of the late 80s and early to mid-90s—inserting delightful touches of both vintage and modern hits. Her youthful, personal renditions of these great songs are refreshing, nostalgic, and inspiring. Calista also writes and performs her own original compositions, which are crafted with the precision of a true poet and an alternative/post-alternative historian.
As she heads into her sophomore year at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College in New York, Calista also serves as a guitar and singer/songwriter instructor at the School of Rock. Her sessions offer a heartfelt mix of covers and original music, influenced by artists like Lana Del Rey, Amy Winehouse, and Kurt Cobain.

2nd Public Hearing 809 Center St!!
Come support change!! September 19th, 7pm.
This is the Public Hearing to bring our events space back to life! 809 Center St!
If you believe that Santa Cruz benefits from our community space, then please join at our public hearing in support to reactivate it!
If you care but cannot make it, emails and calls may be sent to: cityplan@santacruzca.gov or 831-420-5110.
We want our space to continue being utilized for outdoor entertainment as an accent to good times, makers markets, cultural festivals, fundraisers et al!!
In October 2023, nearly one year ago, we received our cease and desist from the City of Santa Cruz to stop having entertainment outside. It was only after a solid 3 years of offering our space to the community without a problem or complaint, that we felt frustrated and disheartened. When something works, why not just let it work?
In hindsight, it’s clear that it took a Pandemic to turn this city inside out.
When Covid hit, no one knew what to do to stay in business besides put tables and chairs outside if you had the space to. The city turned Inside out.
Now look around. We’re about half-way caught up with the rest of the entire world—finally allowing for outdoor dining in fresh air. And what next?! Outdoor entertainment with fresh air? It’s an absurd thought—that one or two naysayers could prevent an entire city from having a little fun, enjoying music, throwing markets and fundraisers, providing jobs and education, silencing comedic laughter and book talks and poetic voices, quieting the sharing of cultures.
This hearing is what we fought for, what we paid unjustly for. We hope to finally bring this space back to life for the community so please show up in support 🙏🏼

Papiba & Friends
Anyone in town interested in traditional Brazilian dance music has certainly checked out SambaDá, the seven-piece local band that does it amazingly well. It was founded by Papiba Godinho two decades ago, just a couple of years after he moved here from Brazil.
But Godinho has another project he started a few years ago called Papiba and Friends with bassist Etienne Franc and drummer Gary Kehoe, which certainly has Brazilian elements, but veers from the traditional.

Kentucky Mule
Kentucky Mule is an alternative country band based in Santa Cruz, California. The vocalist and songwriter, Coleton Joe Tidwell, effortlessly weaves small-town storytelling and metropolitan modernity. This pairs well with an old-school outlaw rhythm section provided by his backing band of Scott Willis (lead guitar), Will Iermini (bass & vocals), Lizzy Smith (fiddle & vocals) & Troy Nadeau (drums). Altogether the band tips it’s cap to the full spectrum of country music while seamlessly blending in their outside influences.
