Notice of Public Hearing #1
Woodhouse Blending & Brewing has officially passed through the Santa Cruz Planning Commission, marking the end of a long and unnecessary battle to bring live entertainment back to our outdoor space. 150 people showed up in support, proving that this city values music, culture, and community gathering.
In October 2023, we were hit with a cease-and-desist order from the City of Santa Cruz, forcing us to shut down all outdoor entertainment. For three years before that, we had hosted live music, comedy, book talks, artisan markets, and cultural events without issue—no complaints, no problems, just a thriving space where people came together.
The shutdown felt like a gut punch. It made no sense. Why take away something that worked? While cities across the world were embracing outdoor entertainment, we were being told to stop. And all because of a handful of naysayers who wanted to control a space meant for everyone.
So, we fought back. We challenged the city. We paid unjust fees. We pushed for change. And now, after months of navigating the system, we finally won. Woodhouse can once again be a home for live music, community events, and shared experiences.
This victory belongs to all of you who stood with us, showed up, and proved that Santa Cruz won’t let its creative spaces be erased.
The best is yet to come. Stay tuned.
